Hmmm, how many bees are an invasion?

Hello blogworld

So which would you like the first the good news or the bad?  I normally go for the bad, then the good is gooder!

The bad news then - to which the above title pertains.  We are being invaded by masonry bees!  We've had them in the walls outside for years and for a month or so during spring I have to dodge the little blighters when coming into the house through the conservatory but this year they are chasing me in the house itself!  So would finding at least 6 bees every day (all over the house) constitute an invasion?  Peter doesn't think so, he thinks I'm over-reacting.  I think it is, not that I would get them exterminated or anything (I don't even step on ants - I mean you never know what you might come back as do you!) but I do object to having to a bee crawl out from under the microwave at me!  Even Emily was surprised to see one crawling around in the kitchen this morning.

Now the good - I'm getting another hair cut tomorrow.  My regular followers of my inane drivel will know the angst the last haircut caused - I'm prepared this time!  I've shown Peter the hairstyle (I googled hairstyles!) I picked and my hairdresser said it will suit me.  So wish me luck at 10.30 tomorrow when I will be having lots of hair cut off.

So and now I've waffled on for even longer than I do normally, anyone want to see a card?  It may seem familiar as I still had the papers and Promarkers out from when I made my Divas card and so this one is along the same style.  I'm not entirely pleased with it as I'm not sure I got the highlights in her hair right and I am rubbish at cutting out.  Also I've run out of my normal super sticky tape and am using wet glue.  I only noticed the splodges under the ribbons after I'd take the pics.

Well here it is anyway and I leave it up to you to see if you like or not:

Front shot:

Detail of image:

I used:

Image
Pink Petticoat digi stamp - can't remember her name! She's stored on the PC and I'm on my lappy (I will find it out and get back to you)
coloured with my Promarkers

Papers:
Die Cuts with a View - backing paper
Craftwork cards - swirls

Dies:
Nesties for the circles

Others:
Flowers, buttons and ribbons all from my stuff
Craftwork cards - sentiment

Hope no-one else is having to avoid bees in their house!

See you soon,
Sarah

A challenge, or two:

Crafting When We Can: Challenge 17 - Sketch

Creative Card Crew: Challenge #9 - Ribbon

and Lisa's Waste not Wednesday:  This one is a digi from 2009 and I've only ever printed her off and coloured her in once before!  It's the hair, it is intimidating (that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!!).

That little bag is a fab detail! I think shades of grey work great for this design, and I like the beautifully colored image. Great card!

Hi sweetie, sorry to hear about your Bee invasion, we get baby wasps finding their way in to the house like there is no tomorrow in the summer (I don't particularly like wasps lol). I hope your hair cut goes well and you are pleased with the results. Your card is gorgeous, I love the image and the papers are fab

Ooh she's fabulous Sarah! Gorgeous card :o) I know exactly what you mean though - I have lots of images & stamps that I've put off using because they intimidate me for some reason... and then I tend to just forget about them! I think you've done a fab job with this one anyway! Thanks for joining in with WNW hun xx

I wouldn't be happy about the bees... having said that, it's better than wasps I suppose! Oh, and I totally agree with you about my hubby - it was a big mistake going back to work today, and he's felt really ill this evening. He went to bed before 10 which is unheard of in our house! Hugs, Lisa x

See, I was looking for the bees on the card! :) lol.

Now my MIL had a similar buzzy problem, and had to call the local authority pest control. You have to pay I think unless you are an OAP, but they can get a bit crazy if you are not careful (the bees, not the OAP's) and so you should get them safely sorted. Not worth risking them stinging little ones is it.

We have a problem with bats in midsummer (everyone thought I had bats in the belfry for years) but we have had to learn to co-habit with them, as the law says they have to be protected.

They are not any bother, but when they come down from the attics and into the house on a balmy summer evening its like dive bombing, and me and the dogs drop to the floor, while hubby turns all the lights off and tries to coax them outside!

Enough of my waffle too, your card is lovely - what a gorgeous job of colouring you did on this image, and I love your papers and the whole monochrome feel! :)
