OK, so.....

I'm not any good at paper pleating!!

Hello blogworld,

I've been trying to be a more regular join-er-in-er with challenges and I'm not 100% successful with that aim - but I'm not doing too badly with Cupcake Crafts and In the Pink!  Well when they pick a card of yours a couple of times to be one of their top picks, you've got to repay the compliment and try and join in occasionally!

But thing is you see, I'm rubbish at straight lines, counting, folding and any sort of neatness!!  So Cupcake-ers you're not going to be overly impressed with my take on paper pleats!

Here we go, have a gander - oh and apologies for the poor quality pics.  I may well take replacement pictures tomorrow.

Front shot:

I used:

Digi stamp:
Digi Stamp Boutique: Funtime Rosie
coloured with my Promarkers

Dies / punches:
Nesties
Memory Box for the corner flourish
Martha Stewart punch for the butterflies

Papers:
Papermania, but I can't remember the actual collection names!

Anything else?
Swiss Dots embossing folder

I've kept the waffle to the end here, but waffle I'm going to!  I always knew that having She Who Must be Obeyed would make me even more worried than I normally am - and here I am worrying now over when she is going to be moved up a stage in her reading books!

Good news first - we had our first proper teacher consultation a little while ago, were told that Em is in the top group for everything - she is particularly good at spelling, literacy, phonics and maths.

So why, I ask myself, are her friends going up onto Stage 5 books and she's still on Stage 4, when she reads extremely well (I think anyway)?  I left a note in her reading book and the reply (via the same book) came back - that they'd like her to do more guided reading on this stage.  So is there something wrong with what she does when she does guided reading?  I don't think so, as her last comment when guided reading took place was 'excellent'!  Is it time constraints on the teacher - in that Em isn't getting to do guided reading very often?  Well that isn't her fault is it.

I don't know I'm starting to send myself a little round the twist here - hubby says to stop getting my knickers in a twist they are only 5 and we shouldn't worry yet!!  I'm just wondering if they are giving her the attention she deserves.  I suppose, in the end, I know that she reads well and reads a lot - it's just I'm a worry wart and I don't think I'm happy unless I'm worrying about something!!

Hah, I'll probably still be worrying about whether she's eating right when she's my age - ooooh that's depressing thought, how old will I be then!!!  Toothless, and in a old people's home probably!

So on that happy thought - I'm off now!  Have a good weekend.

Cheerio,
Sarah

there's nothing wrong with the paper pleating and the card looks fab! and did no-one tell you that worrying is part of the job description of 'Mum'? I went through exactly the same things as you with mine - the youngest is now 14 and I try my hardest not to fret (but often fail!).

It's gorgeous Sarah, i love the soft pink tones you've used and the pleating is fab.
SWMBO - i'm sorry hun we haven't any kids and i have no idea what you're talking about. However Sarah - you are a fantastic mum - the fact that you are worrying about if she is progressing quickly enough shows that. But I do know what you mean - I worry about things that haven't even happened yet - it's just a part of who i am xx

Hi Sarah

Another fabbie pink creation... and I love that paper pleating too!! Don't forget, Sylvia and I at In The Pink both have short term memory probs (commonly known at A.G.E. sydrome..)... so each challenge is new to us and we just choose what appeals most!! LOL! What's gone before is totally forgotten!

Do try not to worry about the problems you've having with school.... though easier said than done.. I was probably the worst ever re worrying... and still am... and my daughters are now 28 and 26!

Big hugs

Now then Sarah !Well done for having a go at the challenge which is more than I mustered this week! I think you have made a fabulous job with this one. Secondly I think little one is doing fine and you will worry no matter what stage she is at(I speak from experience and one of mine is nearly 18!!!!)
Have a little relaxation time and hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Love your card think you'be been to hard on yourself your paper pleating looks great. I have had problems with my sons school my advice would be pester, pester, pester if youve got a nagging doubt speak to the teacher - I wish I'd pestered more x

Oooh - another gorgeous card Sarah - love the dies you used, and little Rosie is adorable!
Thanks so much for joining us at ITP - do pop by again - Sylvia x

PS:- Your little Em sounds like a very intelligent young lady, and if she can read at the age of 5, then she's doing just fine. It's only natural to worry about our children though, and believe me, it never stops!

Thanks for your help with my blog template problem. My missing buttons (since found out is called our Navbar) is now in my sidebar and can not move :( but not too worried now as found other ways to get to my dashboard.

That's lovely Sarah.

As for the reading, I would tell you not to worry but that would be pointless cos I do exactly the same. I'm worried cos we were told Craig has a reading age of an almost 14 year old (not 11 til Feb) and Scott has a reading age of an almost 9 year old (7.5) so I worry that Scott isn't as good as Craig. I know he is but.... there you go. Have I cheered you up any?!

I think that card is so pretty and didn't even notice what was up with the pleating!!!

Delight in the fact that she loves to read and is dong excellent.
Little Miss C excells in all subjects except reading. She can read...she just hates it and moans about it. I think that she expected to be reading complex books by now and as she has always found learning anything easy up till now, she just doesn't want to read as she must admit that it is slowgoing to master every aspect of it.

She reads to me, her Mum and Dad and to Grandpa, but just needs constant encouragement as she just wants to finish. She comprehends the books, can even tell you what it was about after...just does not like it.

They are getting her eyes tested and then a tutor if necessary, so hopefully they get to the bottom of it. I thought that perhaps I would print out the directions to the cards we make and she could read them one step at a time.
