Arrrggghhh!

Hello bloggers!

Well here I am, eventually!, with another card.  I don't know I just can't seem to get a regular dose of my hobby at all at the moment.  When I get a few hours free I'm cramming in making cards, as I know that free time seems to be very small just now.

So we've had one set of guests come and go, more cleaning to be done ready for the next set on Friday - my daughter has had a cold over the weekend and was 'high maintenance' as hubby calls it!  I've hoovered top to bottom on my house, made more apple jelly and am looking at how to make apple danish pastries!  Phew, makes me sound really busy doesn't it - but where is the card making in that!  I'm getting really twitchy as all I'm getting at the mo is an hour or so, really need a good 3 / 4 hrs to make me happy!

So I won't waffle on too much as I want to enter this card into a couple of challenges and I'm sure one finishes today.  I've missed so many the last couple of weeks - what happened to Emily starting school and me having more time?!  It's so not happening!!

Shut up me and show card:

Faye this one is for you - sorry I'm so late showing my purchase (one of many), what can I say - I'm just a busy domestic goddess (and if you believe that you'll believe anything ;-) )

Front shot:

Detail of image:

Used:

Saturated Canary Digi image - Neveah, coloured with Promarkers (no stickles - shock, horror!), die-cut with a nestie and chalked for definition.
Papers are all First Edition - mostly New Leaf, some Hideaway (these are my absolute new loves - even more than Basic Grey pads!)
Gems from my drawers.

Hope everyone else is well,

Sarah

P.S. - Does anyone have any good tips on taking pics - my camera isn't too bad, it's a Panasonic DSL with lots of idiot proofing - but how do I actually get a good set up in the first place?  I've seen, somewhere, a cardboard box chopped up and tissue paper put in place of the sides (is this a sort of light box?) does anyone know if that helps?  I'm stuffed at the mo - the light has changed in the conservatory (where I normally take my pics) and the rest of our house is dull!  Helppppp?!

I'd like to enter these challenges:

I love Promarkers - Challenge #87 - Autumnal Colours

Stampin' for the Weekend - Challenge 18 - Colours of Autumn

Saturated Canary Challenge - Challenge #2 - Stiches (mine are fake - sewing machine still awaiting major surgery!)

Make it Monday  - #59 - Linky party

Oops nearly forgot!  Also: Sketch Saturday - week #155

Hi Sarah. Fab colouring & a lovely card.

Regarding your photo woes. I too got fed up of chasing any available natural light around the house. I got myself a light cube (it was on Amazon for about a tenner at the time but I am sure it went up in price afterwards). You need a couple of lights to shine into your cube, but it means you can take pics at night too & then lighten them using a photo programme. Hope this helps.
Thanks for joining us at I ♥ Promarkers this week.

Hi Sarah,

Love your card. I always took my cards during the day time near the french door. Then I often still have to rely on photo programme to lighten/ sharpen it up a bit more. As now it is getting darker and darker and I work full time. God knows when I will find time to take photos of my cards??!! Will a day time light bulb work? (I think that is what you call them. A blue coloured light bulb.) If you have better ideas, don't forget to share them. Take care! Julie x

Hi this is gorgeous Sarah, what a sweet image and your your colouring is fantastic, love it.. hey me always take photos outdoors. This is the best solution I found.. of course then I'm in a problem when the weather is bad! I've read though that daylight lamps are useful but you need some box to put the card in it!

Very pretty card great colors and darling image. I saw your card at Make it monday.

I made a small 12x12 lite box and used vellum that is 8x11 on sides and then outside of box used outdoor lighting in a clip on lamp to give it the look I need. I have had success with this set up. Hope it helps you know how frustrating that can be. you can visit my blog and see how my cards are if you wish. stampinwithinkonmyfingers.blogspot.com

Hi Sarah beautiful card and stunning colouring she is such a fabulous image I adore her!!! As for photos, I have a cube that I bought for £10 from Macro its just for a back drop. I couldn't afford a daylight lamp o I take the photos in the conservatory and then use the photo programme Vicky recommends above (she recommended it to me!) photoscape its fab and free. You can adjust the colour and brightness and best of all white balance which stops the photos looking dull, its seriously worth a try before purchasing an expensive lamp! Hugs rebekah xx

Hi Sarah, I've got a little photo studio that I bought off Amazon and it came with two spotlights...it folds up so is easily packed away if you need the space. I did buy an additional spotlight to shine down through the top and I tend to use this setup whin I can't take piccy's outdoors! I've just treated myself to a daylight lamp it retails for over a £100 on the web but I managed to get it from Amazon for £65! Here are the links for you :) Donna ♥ x

Gorgeous card Sarah! How about buying a portable studio? My hubby got me one for wintertime as I always struggle with the light. I think he got it from eBay. Its a fiddle to put it up and down but if you have room to leave it up I think it would be ok. Jo x
