Digi Choosday - Giving Thanks

Hello blogworld,

It's Tuesday again, so it's time for a new challenge over at Polkadoodles and this week our challenge is easy to guess - to Give Thanks or make a Thanksgiving card!

As an extra incentive, we have a GREAT deal for you today!
As our American Friends are celebrating Thanksgiving this week we are giving you all a
huge discount on all our downloads
 - simply use code DCW635 and you will
save a huge 35%
off all downloads until Tuesday 3rd December! Wowser!

You have until Tuesday 3rd December to enter and the winner will be announced on 10th December.

If you don't have anyone to make Thanksgiving for you can enter a Thanks card too but as usual Anything Goes with some extra brownie points for sticking to the challenge. The winner of this challenge will win 5 free downloads! woohoo!

Now, I must admit to being challenged by the challenge this week.  I've never made a Thanksgiving card before - but I got my thinking cap on and came up with the card below..

I used a pre-coloured pumpkin image from the Witchie Witchie 2013 download bundle (shows how versatile this set can be!) and simply copied and pasted it twice more to create the three pumpkins.  I then cut the image out with a nestie, popped it onto 3d foam over a scrap of paper that I'd printed out for a previous card, added some twine, buttons and stamped a sentiment.

Looking forward to seeing what everyone creates this time round!

See you soon,
Sarah

I'm making a scene!

Hi blogworld,

Well no not really (again it's a bit like the spotlight post!) I'm not screaming and shouting here but it is a new challenge over at The Cutie Pies and this is where the 'scene' bit comes in!

So we would like you to create a background that goes with an image in the foreground.....i.e. a cloud background, or grass and flowers or how about a snowy scene etc.  As long as your image has some form of a scene around it you’ll be fine.

Our challenge is sponsored by the wonderful

So this is my attempt at a scene - and it's not even a card!!  It's a little canvas that I've had for ages - it's just I thought my poor flowers have been neglected for sooo long and I wanted to use them, but they cost a fortune to post!

Originally I did mask these two images together - but it seemed rather flat to me- so then stamped the pixie again, coloured her in and popped her up on 3d foam pads for some depth.

Front shot:

Her close up:

The Arty Farty:

I used:

Stamps:
C.C. Designs - Pixie Lucy and Woodland Daisy
coloured with me ProMarkers (copics for the pink)

Dies:
La La Lands for the banner

Paper:
DoCrafts - Tulip paper pack

Anything else?
Chalks for the grass and clouds
Wild Orchid Crafts - flowers
Create and Craft - gem swirls

Please pop on over to the blog as my little project is no where near as good as my Teamies have created, they've done good!!

See you soon,

Sarah

P.S. SWMbO moved into the new bedroom on Friday evening - it still needs finishing touches, but once the radiator was connected there was no stopping her!!  I'll do pics soon.

Love to Create Challenge: Challenge #93 - Use 3 of your favourite embellishments (bling, flowers, die-cuts)

In the spotlight!

Oh how I wish I was!!

Hi blogworld,

Well, ummm, no not really!!  I'm not one for hogging the spotlight!  I did however really want to have a go at the spotlight challenge over at Passion for Promarkers but problem is I've had no time this last week,

So this was knocked out in a couple hours this morning - but it's the only card you'll see this week.

I've now got DT cards to make for challenges next week and I can't see me having time to do that and make random cards, plus I've got painting and then the housework I neglected last week -  so this'll be it for this week blogworld!

Me card:
Front shot:
Her Close Up:

 I used:

Stamp:
Stampin Bella - Uptown Girl: Isabella loves ice-cream
coloured with my ProMarkers
Sentiment - Lili of the Valley: Set 25 - Handwritten Phrases
not sure if you can see that I popped the cutout and image up onto 3d foam pads? Hope so.

Die:
Go-Kreate

Papers:
Basic Grey - porcelain

Anything else?
Bit of really ancient trim from doodlebug
flowers from me stuff

That's the fat lady singing folks,

I'll see you next week,

Sarah

A challenge or two:

Sketch Saturday: Week #285 - I rotated the sketch

D.I.Y. on a Sunday

Good morning blogworld,

Hope y'all have had good weeks, we've had a very productive one.  Not cards at all, I've been terribly remiss with those, but on the D.I.Y. front it's been a good week.

We might be having a day off today, but you never know as the skirting board is calling.  But that's only if hubby wakes up soon (he's napping on the sofa - one of trials of getting old it would seem is being tired when you are doing a lot of decorating!).

I thought I'd do my now semi-regular Sunday update on SWMbO's new bedroom.

Painting - (ceiling and walls) tick
flooring - tick
skirting boards - see above!
glossing - waiting for skirting boards
child wanting to move in - tick

So here come the piccies:

You can see she's already starting to move in - even tho there is no radiator yet and there are things to be finished off!!  I think if we don't hurry up we will find her bed in there one morning!!!

Hope everyone else is well.  I can't even say see you with cards next week, as I'm soooo behind with those it's unreal, but hopefully now we are on to the finishing touches I'll be back to normal in a couple of weeks.  Tho when have I've ever been normal - hmmmmm, never????

See ya

Sarah

PS - Although you will spot the lighting, it's not what I really wanted.  You may recall that I put out a plea for advice?  Well hubby persuaded me to go with what we've got to get SWMbO moved in, he said we can 'tart it up' later.  It certainly does need tarting up as far as I'm concerned!!!!  The two lights do give enough light, but the light fittings are just not right for that room.

Any furry friends?

Hi blogworld,

You'll be glad to hear (I'm sure!) that I am nearing the end of painting duties.  Second coat on the two end walls today and then the only painting left to do is woodwork, which there is still a lot of but nowhere near as much as those walls and darn ceiling (5 coats on that ceiling - just goes to show you should buy good quality paint.  Which we did not!!!).

Anyway I'm supposed to be here showing you my DT card for Moving Along With the Times not going on about our D.I.Y. efforts!

This week my Teamie Tammy has chosen the theme of 'Furry Friends' - so we'd like to see animals on your cards / projects please.

You would not believe how tortuous this card was to make!  It started out with loads of layers and patterned paper - but ended up as you see it now, very little paper and no embellies.  I don't know what I did (wrong papers, wrong colour card used to matt the layers, wrong Mojo!!) but it just didn't work - so I took it apart and started again.

Here have a looksie.

The front shot:

The close up:

The Arty Farty:

I used:

Stamp:
Lili of the Valley - Milly Cuddle Time
coloured with my ProMarkers

Dies:
Nestie (for the image)

Papers:
Not sure - it's a scrap

Anything else?
Frame from my stuff
We Are Memory Keepers - White Out collection; rub-on sentiment

Ha, and just as I'd finished it I decided to add the rub-on sentiment - well I almost went through the card rubbing on!!  It still looks rather dodgy in real life!

Hope you get a chance to come join in and will be back at the weekend probably with more D.I.Y. in progress pictures.

See you soon,
Sarah

Celebrations at Digi Choosday

Hello blogworld

Can you believe that another week has flown by and I am back again with my card for the new challenge over at Digi Choosday and this week we'd like to see your projects for 'Celebrations'.

This week there is a fantastic offer for you in the Download Store...you can

save 30% on downloads

from the Store this week - total bargain! There are loads of new digis that have been added this week so make sure you check them out and grab a bargain at the same time. Just use the CODE DCD002 to get your discount applied at the checkout. Remember to use the correct checkout or the code won't work!

For my card I went for a card to celebrate a romantic occasion: engagement, anniversary, or even just I Love You!

Everything came from the Heart to Heart download - I'm just beginning to realise with digi papers how great it is to have all sorts of coordinating papers/images/sentiments!  I printed off one of the papers re-sized to be the background and then printed a topper twice and decoupaged it.  All of the various layers are up on 3d foam for depth - simple, but effective (I hope!).

Look forward to seeing all your entries in the challenge!

See you soon,

Sarah

Songbird Challenge Blog: Challenge #28 - Your Favourite Song.  Well now I've got lots of those - please don't ask me to pick one, you'd stress me!!!  But one of my favourites is: The Beatles - Love is all you need

Little cuties

Good morning Blogworld

Wish it was me who was a little cutie!!  More like a big lump of a cutie!!!

But anyway, seriously now - it's Monday so it's time for a new challenge over at The Cutie Pies and this time we'd like to see your projects for those 'Little Cuties' - so for babies and very little people.

This time we're sponsored, with a prize of 3 digi stamps to the value of $10, by The Stitchy Bear Outlet.

This is my card, I'm not over impressed with it - I've lost my quickie glue pen (again!) and had to use 3d gloss to glue the glitter on to the star which has made a right mess!!  My colouring isn't exactly brilliant either, but hey ho - still made an effort not to make another square card!!

So Front Shot:

The Close Up:

I used:

Digi Stamp:
From Pollycraft - Superstar (shop no longer exists - sooo sad)
coloured with my ProMarkers

Dies:
Go-Kreate - for the base and paper
Spellbinders - for the sentiment
La La Land - banner

Papers:
Not sure - it's a scrap

Anything else?
Glamour Dust and Distress Inks for the edging

And that's your lot folks!  Hopefully we will have our electricity on at the moment but we may not as the electricians are connecting up the new bedroom.  They were supposed to do it on Friday, but came and went inside 10 minutes, didn't allow themselves enough time to do the job!

See you soon,

Sarah

From this to that (part 2)

Hello blogworld,

I know, I know, been very quiet around here again! It's been a busy week for me, just not on cardmaking front.  That will be next week.

What I have been busy on is painting!!  Have a look see:

From this:

To that:

That part 2 - with a small sneaky of what's yet to come:

Oh and this as well!  This is the start of the transformation of the garages.  From garage and workshop - separate; to garage, workshop and hobby room - together!  Basically there is another floor going on top of these buildings - hence the roof starting to come off one.  The other to follow - once the builder turns up again.  Oh yes, it's the return of the magical disappearing builder!!!

There hope that explains the long absence, but I will be back with cards next week.  And an update the following week probably!!

Hope y'all have a good weekend,

Sarah

Digi Choosday

Hi blogworld

My those weeks are just flying by aren't they!  Can't believe it's time for a new challenge over at Polkadoodles Digi Choosday - third one already!!  The theme this week is 'Autumn Colours' and always there is a fab prize on offer.

I fought my way out past all the paint pots, ladders and brushes to bring you this little number.  It actually caused me a lot of headaches to begin with (not used to using digi papers!) but in the end it doesn't look too bad, I think anyway!

The Front Shot:

The Close Up:

The Arty Farty:
I used:

Digi Image:
Emma Canning - Flat Friends : Deer Friend ( a deer is not just for Christmas!)
coloured, as always, with my ProMarkers

Nestie (for the image)
Die-namics (for the corners)

Anything else?
Distress Inks for the inking
Ribbon from my stuff
Sentiment computer generated

That's all folks - I'm now going to hide back in the new bedroom and carry on painting!!  Got to be ready for the electricians on Friday and laminate floor delivery!!  Hopefully SHMbO will be in by next weekend and I'll have more time for crafting and surfing again!

Cheerio

Sarah

A challenge, or two:

Graph'It Marker challenge: Wk 19 - Tic Tac Toe: Blonde hair, fur & dots (which could be either the paper or the shading around her feet: my first attempt at Faye's tutorial from a few weeks ago - hope this counts).

Well, not no really, not yet.....

well, (ever noticed I say 'well' quite a lot?) except at over at Flat Friends!

Good morning blogworld

Oh yes it's the 1st of the month and so it's time for a new challenge and I think you might have guessed the theme?  Maybe?  Possibly?  Oh yes, it's Christmas!!!  Now as all my regular waffle followers will know I don't do Christmas until the 1st of December - but who can say no to the lovely Emma?

And this month you should really go check out the challenge, Emma (Canning the very talented lady who draws the images) has changed the challenge rules and now you can use any image to join in with the challenge!!  Means more players hopefully!  But if you do use a Flat Friends digi and win - you get an extra little reward.  So why not pop on over to the blog and have a look see!

And so this is my make for the new challenge:
