New challenge at the Divas

Hello blogworld

So how are we all this morning?  No whinging and whining from me this time, little one is back at school (tho threw a wobbly Monday night after school which ended up with her on the naughty step, this can be explained by being very tired after her first day back at school for a week), so I'm getting some peace and quiet.  I'm keeping fairly up to date with blogger and I got quite a lot of Saturated Canary digis Monday and am now eagerly awaiting an email with them attached.  So all is happy in Sarah's little world!

Onto the reason I'm here today - a card for the new challenge over at Divas by Design, we are up to number Challenge 15 with the theme this time of Anything Goes.  Always popular, especially with me when I enter challenges!

Our sponsor this time is The Crafty Pad Designs, they have some gorgeous goodies - so why not pop over and have a little look around the shop.

So I'm cutting the waffle and showing the card, hope you like!

Front shot:

Detail shot of image:

I used:

Sugar Nellie - Simply Sassy image; Butterflies and pigtails - coloured with my Promarkers and Flexmarkers, with a touch of highlighting using a white pen.  It's the first time I've tried this, so please excuse the smudges!
All papers from a First Edition pad - Bird Song.
The border is a Memory Box die - Meridian Border
Flowers and brad from my stash.
Greeting (which I'm not sure you can see properly) is a Papermania die-cut.
Card blank from Craftwork cards

I'm off Christmas shopping tomorrow, girlie day out with a friend - no husbands!!! - then Friday it's the schools Christingle service so a busy rest of week.  Hope everyone else has a good week and see you at the weekend.

Getting better

Hi all

So here I am again, trying to get back into a bit of routine, not that I would normally post at a weekend but that's sort of beside the point.  It's more that I'm actually posting!

Anyway, been a quiet weekend - Emily and I spent Saturday at a friends house, Emily had a wonderful time with her friends and I had a lovely chat with their mum while the kids caused chaos!  Today has just been a pottering sort of day, getting ready to go back to school tomorrow.  Emily is really looking forward to going back, apart from she has to do a show and tell on Friday and she has no idea what she will be talking about!!!

Anyways, here is my card for today:

Just the one shot as there isn't much to show, and I also had to photograph it in a bit of a hurry with Emily peering over my shoulder!

I used:

Simply Sassy - Cinderella (still doing my stamping each image twice routine);  coloured with my Promarkers.
All the papers are from a Basic Grey pad; Sultry
Circles cut with nesties, border with one of border dies.
Sentiment is from a Papermania range.
Card blank - Craftwork Cards.

So hope everyone else is having a good weekend - and I must apologise again for not making it round everyone's blogs - I'm planning a massive blog hopping session next week (after the massive clean up session on my house! and the Christmas present buying session - I am going to be busy aren't I!!!!).

Anyhows, thanks for continuing to read my waffle and I even think I have a couple of new followers - but I'm not sure as the numbers keep changing on me.

See you soon,
Sarah

Nearly a week!

Hello blogworld,

Remember me?  I think this is the longest I've left it between posts, and I'm going slightly stir crazy here!  I've not been out the house since Monday and instead I've been trying to think of ways to keep an active (once the spots from the Chicken Pox stopped hurting/itching) 4 1/2 yr old occupied!  We've had a TV day, baking day, day playing in the garden and today it's been painting.  On Monday grandad was still here (visiting for the weekend) but from Tues, it's just been the three of us (me, hubby and Emily) stuck in the house!

It's not been so good for hubby as he works from home, so trying to work with us here disturbing hasn't worked for him - Emily is getting better (and so sleeping a bit better) and has more energy, I'm tearing my hair out trying to keep her occupied and away from daddy.  Is the picture getting clearer?  I think all of us will be happy when she's back at school next week.

Anyway enough of my whinging, here's the first card I've made in a week.  Still not sure of my colouring, Krista's images (Sassy or Saturated Canary digi) are wonderful, but so detailed - me thinks I've a lot more practicing to do!

Oh, and these were supposed to be a Christmas present, but I'm treating myself this week - I think I deserve it!!

Front shot of card:

Detail of image:

I used:

Sugar Nellie - Simply Sassy; Cinderella coloured with my Promarkers and chalked while still in the nestie for definition.  A bit of glitz added with Stickles glitter glue.
Spots are from a Polkadoodles cd.
Embossed panel is a Cuttlebug embossing folder - D'vine swirls.
Martha Stewart punch
A couple of ribbons and pearls from my stash.
Sentiment from Craftwork Cards and I made the card blank.

So I hope you like and I'm sorry I've not been round your blogs so much, things should be back to normal next week.

Hope you are all well,

Sarah

Slight interruption to service!

Hello blogworld

Yes well, interruption being that Emily has got Chicken Pox - again!  It explains the feeling poorly on Sunday afternoon and the waking early yesterday (and this morning - 4.58am exactly!) and the poor thing is now covered in spots, with more appearing almost by the minute.

This means that I'm off card-making again (except in the evenings) and onto motherly duties.  So I will post, but not as regularly as I have been managing.

On the subject of my hair - I've been brave and taken a pic of myself.  Now it's not brilliant, how on earth do you get a pic of yourself anyway?!  But here:

Do you think I look like Teresa May??

See ya soon,

Sarah

PS - As I can't find a template I like, I've taken them all off to have a think about what to do.  You never know I might even like this clean look!!!!

Good morning or....

afternoon?

Hello bloggers,

Well I've been up since 5.30, so to me 7.30 feels a bit like we're half way through the day now!

And the reason for this ridiculous wake up time?  Emily was feeling rough yesterday, no idea what was wrong, and slept for most of the afternoon so she used up her quota of sleep and therefore woke up at 5.30 this morning!

I finally rolled out of bed at 6.30 and we came downstairs, when she decided that she would like to make her card for Father Christmas, so here we are in the dining room with her crafting and refusing to eat her breakfast and me blogging!

Photographic evidence:

But along with that this post is to show my card for a couple of challenges.

My card:
Font shot:

Detail of image:

The sentiment reads 'To a special friend', but I don't think you can see it properly, well you can't on my computer anyway!

I used:

A Pollycraft digi image (from my 100 image for £9.99 bundle, great value and love the images!): Twiddly Wings - Friends.  Coloured with my Promarkers and Flexmarkers.
Chalked while still in the Nestie die for the sky.
Papers are all Prima - Sparkling Spring paper pad.
CC Designs cutter - Teardrop
Card blank and sentiment - Craftwork Cards
So I hope that everyone else has a bit more of a lie-in than I did this morning and I'm away now to try and encourage her to eat her breakfast!

See you soon,
Sarah

The jury is still out....

on the haircut!

Hello blogworld

Am I the only person in the world who stresses about their haircut?  It's been a week now and I'm still not sure I like it, especially as me and hubby had words about it, or, to be more accurate, how it makes me look!  I decided, since the little make up session the other week, that I would try new make-up and, with the haircut, he decided that I now look like Theresa May (the Home Secretary!).  I don't know do I really want a haircut that, so hubby says, makes me look like someone probably 20 years older than me (don't know that for sure, but I'm guessing here!) - if I feel brave enough I may post a picture and you can tell me what you all think.

But enough of my waffle, onto the card (I know it's a Christmas card, and I still don't feel Christmassy, but I wanted to use one of the TeddyBo images that I won the other week - so here I am):
Front shot:

Detail of image:

I used:
Teddybo & Co digi image: Teddybea_116 'Your wish will come true', coloured with my Promarkers and Flexmarkers.
Die-cut and matted with nesties.
The papers are from Craft House - Winter Wonderland.
Wild Orchid Crafts for the flowers.
Card blank, sentiment: from Craftwork Cards (again mounted onto a nestie shape)

So I hope everyone is well and I'll be back tomorrow with my DT for Sweet Stampin'.  It's a good one, so be sure to pop back.

Cheerio

Sarah

No your not seeing things!

Hello blogworld

If you are here for my Divas by Design Design Team card please scroll down.

And, no you're not seeing things, I am posting twice in one day - this is going to be a very, very short post - as I'm in the middle of bed time routine (TV, Fruitpot, yogurt, small piece chocolate, bath, books, bed!) so it has to be very quick.  At the moment she is being entertained by Justin's House (thank goodness for Justin Fletcher!) but it will finish soon and she will realise I'm 'putering!

So I realised that The Sugar Bowl finishes tonight and I really wanted to take part - here is my card:

Just the one pic - everything done at high speed, so no extra pics!

I used:

Sugar Nellie stamp - Gorjuss Girls; Flower Girl - coloured with my Promarkers.
Lots of embossing folders (will go check later what they are).
Image die-cut and mounted onto nestie shapes.
Marianne Creatable swirl die.
Wild Orchid Crafts flower.
Card blank and sentiment; Craftwork Cards.

Goodbye, from a rushing Sarah!

A challenge, or two:

The Sugar Bowl - Challenge 71 - Erika's Sketch (I didn't follow the option of patchwork, hope that's OK).

Passion for ProMarkers - Week 126 Theme; White on White

Divas by Design - Challenge 15 : Monochromatic

Hello blogworld

Suppose this isn't too bad, it's only been two days between posts!  I had hoped to post yesterday, but I ended up being busy turning apples into mush to make even more apple jelly.  Hey-ho, such is life - always busy, even if I'm not really doing anything much!

Anyway, enough of me - onto the reason for this post: a new challenge over at Divas by Design.  Can't believe how fast the last two weeks have gone and typing this I was astounded that we are up to the 15th Challenge!  How did that happen!

The challenge this fortnight is Monochromatic, i.e. a colour scheme consisting of only shades of one colour.  We are sponsored by The Digi Garden and the DT were offered the chance to use one of their digi images.  I spent a lovely time wandering around the website, there really are some very cute images there.

I have to admit to being stumped with this one for ages, I've only ever done two mono cards and struggled with those as well!  Anyway I put my little thinking cap on and came up with this card:

Front shot:

Close up of image:

I used:
Digi image from The Digi Garden: Courtney with Flower, coloured with my Promarkers then die-cut and matted onto nestie shapes.
The patterned paper is from a Prima pad: Fairy Flora.
Gems, little flower, ribbon and pearl in the middle of the flower are all from my stuff.
Card blank and sentiment are from Craftwork Cards

So I hope you like and please pop over to the blog to look at the stunning cards my Teamies have made and then join in with the challenge!

Looking forward to visiting all your blogs.

Sarah

Peek-a-boo!

Hello there blogworld

So another absence from blogland, I'm beginning to doubt that I'll ever get back into posting on a regular basis.  Just when I think I've got it nailed - life goes and throws a wobbly!

So where were we when last we met?  I think I was off for a haircut, which I did and I'm not entirely sure about!  You know how it looks lovely when you leave the hairdressers, then it takes a day or so to settle (and I don't know about you, but I can never get it looking like it did when I stepped out of the salon) then you make your mind up if you like it or not?  Well at the moment it's settling and I'm not sure I like it!  I will let you know the final verdict in a few days.

We've had daughter off school, again!, this time with a cold.  I thought she would be well enough to go, but after a lot of tears and wails of 'I'm too poorly to go to school!', I gave in and let her have the day off.  Poor thing did have (and still does) a cold, but not bad enough not to go I thought, but then who am I to know!  I'm just muddling through this parenting malarky!

Friday evening was spent in total darkness in our house - we were in bed for 9.15 (and not for anything naughty!!) just because the blooming electrics decided to fuse.  We ended up with one light for the whole house - no sockets, no other lights anywhere working.  We don't have any street lights here (only the posh areas in town have those!) so it was pitch black outside and in - so off to bed we trotted.  I didn't even have any internet connection - we've got a BT hub and without the phone, the hub don't work!  How I survived the evening and morning I'll never know.

Yesterday and today have been quiet and I've finally got a chance to get a card made!  Yay - I was starting to get withdrawal symptoms, but then I was finding it hard to get in the colouring groove and chucked quite a few images!  I'm still not 100% happy with the colouring on this one, but I'm letting it go and posting for you all to make up your minds.

So, mega waffle over, here is card:

Front shot:

Detail shot of image:

I used:

Saturated Canary digi image: Let it rain - coloured with my Promarkers.  I then swiped a Distress Ink pad around the edges and stamped with one of the Lili of the Valley additions corners in the same ink.  Not tried this before, not sure how it's worked!
All papers are First Edition - Desert Blooms pad.
Pins and flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts - I coloured the smaller flowers with my Promarkers to match the colours of the image and put a touch of stickles on the edges (again not sure it worked out!).
Card blank and sentiment: Craftwork Cards.

Hope you like and am off now to try and catch up with you all and my commenting duties!

Best wishes, hope you have all had a good weekend.

Wednesday 9 November 2011

Ooooh and ahhhhh!

Those, blogging friends, are the sounds I made after having my Frangipani wrap at the Health Club / Spa my friend and I went to yesterday.  Of course, and this is typical of my life, the sounds I made when we  left and my car decided to blink lots of orange warning lights at me wasn't so much sounds as more a word (or string of words) none of which are repeatable!!

So as you may have gathered from that opening paragraph yesterday was a day of mixed fortunes.  The couple of hours at the Health Club were wonderful, if a little strange.  As I spent most of an hour covered in green goo and wrapped up like a turkey ready to be cooked!  It was so nice to pummelled, scrubbed and left to sleep - otherwise known as a Frangipani Wrap.  I also had a 1-2-1 make-up session with a nice young girl to get some tips on the very 90's time warp that I am stuck in with my make-up.  I have to say, all modesty to one side, I did look very nice when I came out of that session - although Emily slightly worried me when she asked what the black goo was on my eyelids!!!

Then when we came out of the Club, having a had a very nice lunch and meaning to go into the local town and do a bit of shopping, my car decided to let me know, in the nicest way possible, that my power steering; ABS and engine were failing!!!  After ringing hubby, the trip into town was cancelled and I drove home very carefully.  Thankfully the sparks came out today, plugged his fancy computer into the car and charged us £40 to say it was a glitch!  At least hubby didn't moan - for once ;-)

So there is my saga - I do hope I haven't bored you and now onto the reason you all visit my blog, probably, is today's card:

Front shot:

Detail shot of image:
I used:

Pollycraft digi stamp: Kiki Cakes, coloured with my Promarkers and a touch of Stickles on the cakes.
Die-cut with a Go-Kreate die and chalked whilst still in the die for definition.
I don't know what the papers are, as they were very kindly given to me by a blogging friend (thank you Kat,).
The swirls are a Marianne Creatable die.
Message is from a Pink Parfait set from Papermania.
Crystals are from Hobby House.

So there that was my day yesterday, today nothing much to report, tomorrow I'm off to get my hair cut and hopefully I should be back soon with another card.

Off to wander through all your blogs now.

Cheerio

Sarah

Finally! (long post warning)

Hello there blogworld,

As it says above, finally another post! Just when I thought I was on a roll it turned out it was a sandwich!  I'm sorry that is just a sample of my very poor sense of humour!  I've always thought 'on a roll' is an odd expression.  What I meant was that just when I thought I'd managed to get back into a routine, it all went off again. Anyway I'm here now, and have a card to share.

But first you've all got to sit through my waffle!  So how did the party go?  It went fine, the only thing is that I must be getting old, as 28 or so 4 and 5 year olds was enough to send me loopy!  Especially at the end when the entertainer had finished, the kids were full of food, sweets and cake and had balloons to play with - I put my head in my hands and mentally hid!

Would anyone like to see a pic of my little chicken?  Yes? Here you go:

And in a dress too, a very rare occasion!  Of course, when she actually went out, she wore a pair of boots to go with this dress!  Has her own sense of fashion does my little chick.  Also at the end of the party all the children lined up to get a balloon shape - the girls got butterflies and poodles, the boys guns and swords - what did Em ask for?  A gun!  So she ended up with a pink balloon gun - to give her her dues she was holding her own against 3 boys (also with balloon guns and swords) at the the end of the party, before I had to drag her home!

Anyway, now I've bored you with my waffle - here is my card:

Front shot:

Close up of image:

and charm:

I used:

Saturated Canary digi image: Stroppy Beth - coloured with Promarkers
All papers: First Edition paper pad - Hideaway
Martha Stewart punch
Flower, ribbon and charm all from my stash

So hope you all had a great weekend, and if you went to any fireworks enjoyed yourselves and stayed safe.  Obviously thoughts go out to the poor people caught up in the terrible accident on Friday, such a horrible thing to have happened.

You won't see me tomorrow, as I'm off for a late 40th birthday present to myself - a few hours pampering at a local health spa - but you will see me on Wednesday as I have another card to share.

Cheerio for now.

Sweet Stampin' DT card

Hello fellow bloggers

And how are we all today?  Keeping well I hope.

As the title says here is my card for this weeks Sweet Stampin' challenge.  The prize this time has been kindly donated by my teams' leader Fi and is the chance to choose two Sugar Nellie stamps.  Now that is a prize I'd like!

The challenge this week is a photo inspiration and here is the wonderful photo:
Isn't it just beautiful, but boy what a headache it gave me to match it!  I didn't know whether to go with the colours or the bouquet so I, hopefully!, did both and here is my card:

Front shot:

Detail shot of image:

I used:

Stamp: Stamping Bella - Bessie LULU; coloured with my Prisma pencils.  Die-cut and matted onto Nesties.
Papers: Prima Fairy Flora paper pad.
Border: a Die-namics die - Dainty Lace Boder.
Swirl: a Marianne Creatables die - LR0119 (there are two of them, I just arranged them on the card and glued 'em together to make some sort of cornery swirl).
Gems from my stuff.
Card blank I made.

Looking forward to see what all you talented people out there make of it and, remember, you've got to be in it to win it so why not head over to the blog and participate - we don't bite promise :-)

Friday 4 November 2011

And here I am again!

Hello fellow bloggers,

Wow my posting is getting almost regular isn't it!  I don't know maybe I'm becoming more organised, now wait while I check my life - nope that's not it!!!  I think it's just sheer luck more than planning, and a need to make cards for specific times and people.  This one, and my last one, are needed for tomorrow.

A couple of Emily's classmates are having a joint party, another little boy and girl who are best friends - just like Emily and her friend Ryan!  Emily is really looking forward to it as, altho she is quite a tomboy, she does like to wear a pretty dress and this party is in a hall with an entertainer so she will get to wear the dress!  This is the first 'proper' party we've been to, all the others have been at soft play / activity centres where it has to be comfy climbing clothes.

If she lets me I will take a pic of her to share, so you can see that my little tomboy can actually wash up quite pretty!

Anyway enough waffle, onto card.

Front shot:

Detail of image:

I used: (am going to have to think of a snappier title than that, aren't I!)

Image: Pollycraft digi - Kiki Rose Fairy (image came on a free CD with a digital cardmaking mag - thanks for the heads up Coops); coloured with my Promarkers and Flexmarkers with stickles on the wand.
Papers: Papermania Sweet Nothings paper pad.
Nesties to mat and layer
Shapeabilities for the top tags and sentiment.
Sentiment: also Pollycraft.
Card blank: Craftwork cards.

So I'm off to link up to challenges and will see you not the same time but same place tomorrow with my Sweet Stampin' design team card.

Cheerio,

I have a new toy!

Hello fellow bloggers,

So how are we all today?  Can you believe that I'm posting two days in a row - you never know if I keep this up I might manage two posts in one day!

Anyhow, my new toy - hubby has brought me a light cube!  I've only taken a couple of pictures using it (this one included) so please excuse any flaws - I'm trying out different places to put the thing, which is huge by the way.  It's so big Emily could almost crawl right into it (and she tried!)!  I have to say though I do like it, it certainly has stopped the problem I'm having with the light being too bright in the conservatory, not tried taking a picture at night yet.

And don't go thinking that hubby treated me - he said he could use it for when he takes pictures for his web-site!

So onto my card:

Only the one picture today, as I'm trying to work out how to get close to the card - without trying to crawl into the cube with the card!  I know I could zoom, but my hands wobble and the pic gets fuzzy.  I think I'll have to dig out the little stand that came with my camera.

So here is what I used:

Image is a Pollycraft digi - Taking a Break, coloured with my Promarkers (don't ask me what happened to his face - I completely mucked that up!).
The papers are all from K&Co - Hopscotch pad.
Martha Stewart punch.
Lili of the Valley sentiment, die cut with a nestie.
I made the card blank.

So that's it from me for now, hopefully will be here again soon.

Take care,

Sarah

Divas by Design - Challenge 14: use metal

Hello again blogworld

Sorry still a bit erratic with the posting - we are getting back into school routine and hopefully I'll be posting regularly again by next week.  Of course by then I'll have to start thinking what I'm going to be doing for Christmas cards this year.  Mostly quick and easy panic cards probably!

Anyway, enough waffle this post is my Design Team card for the new challenge over at Divas by Design. This time we would like to see some metal on your projects.  The entries for the last challenge were very spooky and I'm sure this time I'll be looking at lots of metal!

The prize for this challenge is a Diva prize box,  that sounds fab and I'm sorry I can't enter myself!

So we would love you to pop over to the challenge and have a go.  There is a wonderful range of inspiration from my teamies and there is also my little offering as well.  And here, without any further waffle here is my card:

Front shot:

Detail of image:

Close up of flower and my metal:

Hope you like it!

Details of card:
Image is an older Sugar Nellie stamp: a Rachelle Anne Miller image - Lola with Bunny and I coloured her with my Promarkers.
The swirl is a Cheery Lynn die-cut: Fanciful Flourish.
Flowers are from one of my numerous boxes.
Brad and metal surround are from The Hobby House
Sentiment is from Craftwork Cards and die-cut with a Die-namics die (unfortunately I can't see the name of the die, but I got it from Tracy at Dies to Die for).

And that's it, no papers and no glitter - all very clean and simple!

So look forward to visiting all your blogs and seeing all your wonderful creations!
