The bed, the tooth!

Hello blogworld,

Well I did say I'd bore you all with pictures of 'the bed' and here you go:

I don't know if you can get a feel for the size of the room - it's  roughly 14 x 12 (that's feet) and all of our rooms have high ceilings as it was built around 1900.

Can you make out the arm?  That's SHMbO trying out the new bed!

Also I found these while moving pictures about - these are the cupcakes I made for Emily's birthday.  Princesses and Pirates theme, not bad really even if I do say so myself!

Ah and the tooth - it's currently hanging on by a thread and I mean seriously a thread!  It is dangling out of her mouth but she will not let us touch it!  I tried and got screamed at, Daddy tried and got cried at - so we both gave up and let her go to bed.  Hopefully it will 'fall' out when I brush her teeth in the morning (I've got that job at tomorrow as the tooth is 'scary' to touch!).

Right am off now to fight with Mr Mojo - deadlines to meet and all that jazz, don't y'know!!!

Our sponsors are:

Thanks for all the lovely comments and advice you wonderful lot left of my last whingy, whiny, waffley post about my angst over parenting. We did as all of you said to do - stuck to our guns, got the bed we wanted for SHMbO and she loves it!  I have pictures, not of her as she wouldn't stay still for long enough, but of the room and bed, which I'll share over the weekend.

See you soon,
Sarah

No card, but more crying!

Hello blogworld,

Waffle time!

I felt a bit unsure about having a child for ages as I watched my sister and b-in-law with theirs and saw how much effort went into it.  I also had my mothers' thoughts ringing in my ears for years - first one being 'you were a lovely baby and then you grew up' and also 'I sometimes wish I'd never had you two - all you do is argue' insert any words from argue to break my heart, to moan, cry and whinge.

Still the clock ticked, found a nice bloke and eventually we took the plunge, and it has been the most emotional roller-coaster ever! We have good days - she got flowers from daddy on Valentines, look how happy she is:

To days like yesterday - all over a new bed!  She finally picked one a single, metal bedstead with crystal finials, fine done very happy.  Said we'd go home and order one, canny shoppers us - there's always something either cheaper or with free delivery on the 'net!

But, oh no - we get home and now we've gone back to wanting a mid-sleeper and it's causing tears.  We've explained that she can't bounce on that - we moved her bed away from the wall because she said she was cold, and against the wall is where she would have to have this bed. It's not needed in her bedroom - she has a good sized double room so the storage isn't an issue. We have a fold-up so that can be used when she starts having friends over, so again no reason for a bunk-bed (the other choice!).

Is it bad of us to want her to have the bed we want her to have, instead of what (I'm sure) is a fad because her friend has one?  It's also more practical - a single will last her years, whereas she'll have to change a mid-sleeper again.

I don't know I'm beginning to feel like a right meanie here, but where do you draw the line between indulging her and spoiling her?

So on top of the crying about not wanting to go to school, the crying because she wants this bed, the crying because we said 'no' and the general everyday crying - I'm about done in!!

Still no doubt she'll cheer up again soon and then we'll get back to normal, eh.  I can hear the telly has gone on (thank goodness for Justins House - cheers her up) and I'm hiding in the craft/dining room.  I'll come out soon, promise!!

There waffle over, makes me feel better talking to no-one this does.

Sarah

PS - We also went new kitchen hunting - ooooh  I'm in love, soft close drawers, masses of storage, pretty colours. Roll on June/July/August!

I am baaad!

Hi blogworld

Well aren't I just a badly organised person right now :-(

This was supposed to be a post with me DT card for the new challenge over at The Cutie Pies but, due to bad timing of my organisation skills with SHMbO and her social life, I've not got a card to show you.  It is presently sitting in pieces on my desk!  First time I've ever done this and I do feel bad for letting the team down.  I will have it ready for the the midway post, promise.

I will give you the sponsor details and urge you to pop on over and see what my teamies have made and why not pop a card in while you're there.  It's a great theme this fortnight - 'pretty pastels', how sweet!

There are two sponsors for this challenge who are:

and:

Again, apologies for lack of card and generally blogging at the moment.  I don't know that I will even be back soon as it's half term and we have a busy schedule the next week.  I'm also still struggling with the old Mojo, still you don't want to know about my woes do you, so I'll stop now.  Ha bet you're all saying thank goodness for that, then!

Cheerio

Feelin' it now?

Good morning blogworld

Look at me, back again so soon!  I think at the moment that it's a good job I'm on a fair number of DT's otherwise you wouldn't be seeing me at all.  I'm really struggling to get my bottom in gear and do anything at all at the mo.  I think it must be my annual blues - hopefully once the clocks go forward and we get better weather I'll recover the old zing in the step, for now I'll just keep quiet and wait!

So here I am with my card for the new challenge over at Moving Along With The Times - this week the challenge is set by Claire and she has picked 'Love is in the Air', appropriate - eh!!

We are sponsored by:

with the fab prize of a paper set for one lucky person!

Now I have to confess that I'm not a digital paper person, I have some but me and them just generally don't get along!  I much prefer having a paper stack to stroke and admire, but these papers are very pretty with lovely colours - and I have to say a very big thanks to my teamie Laurie for helping me with them!

So here we go, here's the old card.
Front shot:

Detail of image:

 The arty farty:

I used:
Stamp:
My Favorite Things - Doodle Garden: Far Out
coloured with me Pros

Dies:
L'eanne - circle
Whimsy - fence

Papers:
Raspberry Road - Pink Lemonade

Anything else?
Sentiment - computer generated
3d gloss on her glasses

So hope you like, I'm not too sure!

I'll see you soon,
Sarah

PS - Oh and for those of you who might even be vaguely interested - we never did go bed shopping for SHMbO.  He backed out (lots more important things to do - humph!) but we have now got it in the diary for next week.  And SHMbO is extremely excited that she's not having to wait until she's six until she gets a new bed!!

Feelin' the love?

Hi blogworld,

So are you all geared up for Valentines day then?  Must admit it's not a big deal in our house - 'im indoors always gets me flowers and we exchange cards, but there's no romantic dinner or night out or anything.  Can't remember that there ever was either, oh dear we do sound like a boring old married couple - ahh yes that's just what we are!!!

So anyway, the real reason for this post is the new challenge over at Divas by Design and the theme this week is, yes you've guessed it!, 'Love and Romance'.

Our sponsor this week is:

and this is my card:
front shot:

The arty farty:

And that's it folks! No image, no papers, no embellies - well apart from the gems!

I used:

Embossing folder, heart punch, a very old 'love' stamp (you may even remember it from last year's Valentines card!), bit of ribbon and a couple of gems.

I sort of run out of time with this one, and as I know hubby doesn't mind what sort of card he gets I figure he'll be happy!

You should really go see the cards my teamies have made - they are way better than mine!!

Apologies for lack of comments (again), unfortunately have got a lot on my mind at the moment and it's sort of making me mojo a bit hit and miss and I'm finding it a bit difficult to get the umph for blogging either.

SHMbO is being rather difficult about going to school and I'm still a bit unhappy with things are going this year, so we are off to see the headteacher tomorrow afternoon, hopefully we'll get things straightened out.  Then I should be happier and the old mojo will return!

Anyway, waffle, waffle, waffle!

Hope to see you joining in with the Divas and be back soon,
Sarah

Good morning blogworld,

It's another Saturday and so it's time for an new challenge over at Sweet Stampin and this week we'd like to see pearls and swirls - plus the stamping please!

This month's sponsor, with a £10 voucher, is:

Too late!

Hello blogworld

It's about typical of my life at the moment - I made a card to enter into a challenge, that ended on Sunday.  Look when I'm finally getting to blog it, talk about it being a bit late!

So I thought, seeing as I don't have a card to show now until my DT for the Sweeties on Saturday, I thought I'd share it and some waffle.

So card.
Front shot:

Close up of image:

The arty farty:
 I used:

Mo Manning - Fairy Kiki
coloured with my Promarkers (chalks for the sky)

Dies:
Circular nesties

Papers:
Ahh, OK not quite sure on that one!  They came out of my scraps box.

Anything else?
Ribbon, trim and sentiment - all from my stuff and, in one case, about 5 years old!!

So what's the waffle then?  Well SHMbO is not sleeping well, she is complaining that her bed is too small.  She is 5 1/2 yrs, about 3 1/2 st and around 116cms (notice how I mix my measurements there - that's what comes from being at school when they kicked out imperial and brought in metric, I can't count in either!!) tall.  She is in a toddler bed (which was her cot then converted to a toddler bed) and complains that it's too small.  So for the last week she's been going to sleep far too late and going into mine and 'im indoors bed - then when we go up, she goes back!

Me and 'im indoors are talking about getting her a new bed - SHMbO wants a high sleeper or bunk beds - I don't.  Hmmm, I'm trying to persuade him into a shopping trip to Lincoln on Sunday - verrryyy hard work that!!!  He doesn't do shopping - at all, ever, in a million years (oh apart from food shopping, he does that with a list and extreme precision!).

We will see and I will not doubt tell you all about it!!

Hope everyone is well, and I am behind with commenting, when am I not!  Hopefully blog hopping time at the weekend,

Cheerio
Sarah

A challenge, or two:

In the pink: Challenge #12 - distressed.  Oh-ho, skin of teeth, ladies, skin of teeth!!

Now I've gone off piste again with this one, as you will see when I show my card - but for now lets deal with the sponsors - who are just fab!

Our sponsors this time are:

Bugaboo very kindly let the DT pick some images, and that's where I fell at the cute stakes!  Having said that though, I do like the card - I just don't think she's particularly cute!!!

Die-ing for a challenge?

oh I'm just sooo sharp !!

Hello blogworld

So I bet you didn't think you'd see me back again this quick did you!!  Reason for this post, and the reason I'm such a clever so and so, is that that it's a new challenge over at FlatFriends and this time the theme is 'Dies'.

So we would like to see, along with your Emma Canning (FlatFriend) digi, you getting your dies and die-cutting machines out and die-cutting to your hearts content.

So what did I make this time - well to begin with I had a hard time choosing the image, but in the end I picked this cutie and made this card:
