Goodbye

Oh how sad - we've just found the old lady of the bunch passed away in the conservatory.

She was 19 so a good age, but how on earth am I going to tell Emily.

No signs of injury, just gone.  Still she passed peacefully, but still a shock.

I may be back later.

Sarah so sorry to read your news, Alan and I have both seen first hand over the last week how much you, Peter and Emily love your cats. 19 is a great age and she had a fantastic life and home with you all. Please give us a shout if there is anything we can do. Love and hugs Kathy and Alan xx

So sorry your cat has passed away Sarah. As others have said 19 is a very good age for a cat, you have looked after her very well. I think honesty is the best policy when it comes to children and the death of a pet. We have had lot's of pets over the years and have always involved Amelia-Grace when one has died. When she was 5 one of her rabbits died. We let her hold him and say goodbye, she also helped to bury him.
Hugs,
Sarah-Jane xx

So sorry to hear your sad news Sarah but at least you have some comfort that she died peacefully and had a good life with you and your lovely family.

I agree with Sara-Jane.

Little Miss C is 6 in October. She has had a hampster pass away and now her latest hampster had to be put to sleep. My daughter and SIL involved her in the decision as the poor wee thing had cancer and had difficulty breathing.
She told me all about it the next day and was very matter of fact describing the scientific part. Her voice was sad but she understood it was the kindest thing to do.

She was barely 5 when the 1st one passed away. We explained that it had died and now was with Great Grandpa in heaven. She was really sad, but happy to hear that GG now had a friend of hers with him.

I am sorry for the loss of your cat and hope that your little girl is not too upset.

So sorry hun. We went through this about four years ago when we lost our old lady. She too was a good age and thankfully not in any pain at the end, although it still upsets me to think of it.
Not sure how you will break the news to your lovely young lady, really don't envy you that. It will take all of you a while to get over it. Hugs to you all Karen xx
